EYE EXAMINATIONS
Our practice incorporates the latest equipment to improve the eye examination
process.
We perform
thorough eye examinations in order to assess your vision and eye health. You
will be advised of the spectacle or contact lens prescription you may need.
During the examination your eye coordination, muscle balance and focussing ability will be reviewed. The health of your eyes will be thoroughly examined to check for cataracts, glaucoma, or any other eye
diseases.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE AN EYE EXAMINATION?
Regular eye examinations are important to maintain good vision and good eye health.
People often say they can see clearly, so why do they need to have their eyes examined?
The reason for regular eye examinations is to check for good vision as well as checking the health of the eyes. There can be problems within the eye that you may not be aware of, and this can potentially affect your vision in the future. For this reason we recommend an eye examination every two years or sooner if advised.
CONTACT LENS CHECK UPS
People often say they can see clearly and their contact lenses are comfortable, so why do they need to have a check up?
Contact lenses are safe and easy to wear, but you must remember the lens is resting on the surface of the eye. There can be problems with the eye even though it feels fine and the vision is good.
At contact lens check ups your vision is assessed for any changes and your eye is carefully examined for any signs of disease or damage. The contact lenses are also assessed for correct fitting on the eye. The surface of the lens is checked for irregularities or deposits, which may in time cause problems with the eye.
Usually these checkups should be performed every six months but if more
frequent consultations are needed, you will be advised of the time for your next examination.

SUNGLASSES
It is well known that long-term exposure to ultraviolet light causes damage to your eyes. It can cause conjunctivitis, cataracts, and in later life damage to the retina at the back of the eye. It is important that every one wear quality sunglasses to protect their eyes from this damage.
Children are often forgotten when it comes to wearing sunglasses. It has been shown that children can be more vulnerable to the effects of ultraviolet light as they have not yet developed a natural defence that adults have.
Just like slip, slop, slap, don't forget the sunnies for your children and yourself.
